Guest Safety Update
Officials at the California Mid-State Fair want to remind all guests that patron safety is our top priority.
While there has been a handful of completely false social media posts regarding “drugging” at the fair, one guest did file a report with Sherriff’s officials, alleging she was “drugged”. That guest complained of feeling “dizzy” and “anxious”, but refused any medical assistance. The investigation remains open.
Twin Cities Community Hospital spokesperson Ron Yukelson said social media rumors of multiple people being taken from the fair to the hospital in relation to being “drugged” are totally inaccurate.
As a proactive approach to public safety, fair officials and law enforcement personnel strongly encourage guests to immediately report any incidents of criminal or suspicious behavior.
Through Day 8 of the 12-day California Mid-State Fair, the new hand-wanding procedures for metal detection have worked extremely well, with guests having a very minimal slow-down coming through the gates.
The 2016 California Mid-State Fair runs through July 31. This year’s theme is “The Adventure Continues…”
